Net Zero North East England has developed a dashboard of 16 indicators. These provide information about the state of progress towards net zero:

Decarbonisation: greenhouse gas emissions

• Cleaner: employment and turnover in the low carbon economy; green jobs; funding of net zero research
• Greener: land use; air and water quality; waste management; renewable energy; transport emissions
• Fairer: access to employment; green spaces; transport-related social exclusion; public attitudes; housing quality

The North East evidence hub provides up to date, detailed statistics about the 16 indicators and other net zero related topics via the Net Zero theme page.
 
The hub also hosts the initial evidence base produced for the 2022 launch of Net Zero North East England, which included key baseline data.
 
The launch included a blog by Richard Baker, Strategy and Policy Director at the North East Local Enterprise Partnership, that explained the background and purpose of the evidence base.

The evidence base is not complete; we’ll be adding to it over time and will be working with North East universities, through an independent Expert Advisory Panel, and with government bodies to continue to gather data.

And we welcome contributions and suggestions which could help us to build an even stronger basis for our journey to net zero.
